Fifty three years ago, Lafayette Square hosted its first house tour. The early “homesteaders” of this largely abandoned Victorian era neighborhood conceived the idea that if we have a house tour, get our friends and family to come, maybe someone will fall in love with a house, buy it, restore it and help rebuild this magnificent neighborhood.
It worked! Every year, twice a year—June and December—Lafayette Square has held its home and garden tours and holiday tours.
Then COVID hit. Tours and all of the associated activities were suspended. Most missed was our Saturday night concerts.
This year, the Lafayette Square Gardens in Bloom Tour is back. And so are the antiques fair, carriage rides and other tour activities. The Lafayette Square Arts Council is happy to announce that the free Saturday night concert series is back!
